We encourage you to make the Andes crossing by horse. To live a memorable week in Valle de Uco mountains.
The trip includes:

Schedule

 

Day 1. Mendoza – Dr. Scarabelli refuge.

We will meet around 9.00 hours in Mendoza and head to Tupungato, where we will visit a vineyard located at Valle de Uco.
We will pass though Manzano Histórico, a monument that pictures the return of Gral. San Martín after the liberation campaign.
Then we will reach 3,000 m.a.s.l.- a place known as Real de Dr. Scarabelli (Mula muerta, Spanish for “dead mule”), where our friend guides will be waiting and lunch will be served.

Day 2. Portillo argentino – Real de la Oveja refuge.

We will cross Portillo Argentino, a mountain range that rises 4,300 m.a.s.l.. This crossing path was used by Captain Lemos when fighting for Chile´s freedom, and it was subsequently used by Gral. San Martín on his way back from liberating Peru and Chile.
After a six- hour hourseback riding, and once we have reached what is known as Alto Valle del Tunuyán, we will stop at Real de la Oveja, a refuge that rises 3,000 m.a.s.l., placed on the margin of La Olla creek. We will spend the night here.

Day 3. Real de Contreras refuge.

After a tasteful breakfast, we will ride for two hours until we reach Real de Contreras, a refuge where camping will be settled. We will spend the rest of the days in the valley here.
We will rest, walk around, visit Palomar river, broad pastures, flowery wetlands and slope thowing waters.

Day 4. Chile border.

We will have early breakfast and then head to the border with Chile. We will cross several mountain rages rising 4,000 m.a.s.l. and envisage hills of multiple shapes and colors.
After several riding hours, we will return to Contreras refuge.

Day 5. Cerro Mesón San Juan.

We will reach Cerro Mesón San Juan hill on foot. An astonishing Andean massif that rises 5,500 m.a.s.l. with an ice wall of unimaginable dimensions.
After a six- hour riding, we will return to Contreras refuge.

Day 6. Refugio Dr. Scarabelli – Mendoza

We will return to the Dr. Scarabelli refuge. A van will be ready to take us to Mendoza city. We will spend the night there.
